Virtual schools subject of upcoming House hearing

Published:  February 13, 2012

This week, the House Elementary and Secondary Education Committee will be hearing testimony related to virtual schools. House Bill 1629, sponsored by Rep. Jay Barnes (R-Jefferson City), would allow a student to enroll in a virtual course or school program of a charter school or district other than the student’s district of residence. The student’s district of residence would be required to pay the receiving school 72.5% of the current expenditure per daily attendance of the previous school year. CECM supports HB 1629.
